MSX index ends marginally lower

MSX index ends marginally lower

Muscat: The MSX index closed at 4,167.03 points, down by 0.29 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended up by 0.03 per cent at 512.81 points. Muscat Desalinate, up 4.65 per cent was the top gainer while, Sembcorp Salalah down 15.00 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Ominvest were the most active in terms of the number of shares traded as well as in terms of turnover.

A total number of 462 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR4.76 million, with more than 20.6 million shares changing hands. Out of 42 traded securities, 8 advanced, 19 declined and 15 remained unchanged. At the session close, Domestic investors were net sellers for OMR403,000 while GCC & Arab investors were net buyers for OMR203,000 followed by foreign investors for OMR200,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 6641.07 points, down by 0.47 per cent. Prices of Taageer Finance and Bank Muscat were up by 1.21 per cent and 0.38 per cent respectively. Prices of United Finance, Al Anwar Investment, Muscat Finance, Global Financial Investments, and Al Sharqia Investment were down by 3.33 per cent, 2.27 per cent, 1.72 per cent, 1.52 per cent, and 1.09 per cent respectively.  

             
Industrial Index closed at 5825 points, down by 0.04 per cent. Prices of Oman Fisheries, Raysut Cement, Oman Cables Industry, Oman Flour Mills, and Al Maha Ceramics were up by 1.96 per cent, 0.53 per cent, 0 per cent, 0 per cent and 0 per cent respectively. Prices of National Aluminium, Oman Ceramics, Gulf Stones, Al Hassan Engineering, and Abrasives Manufacturing were down by 2.59 per cent, 0 per cent, 0 per cent, 0 per cent, and 0 per cent respectively.

Services Index was up by 0.37 per cent before closing at 1631.3 points. Prices of Muscat Desalination, OIFC, Oman National Engineering, Oman Telecom, and National Gas were up by 4.65 per cent, 1.89 per cent, 1.85 per cent, 1.04 per cent, and 0 per cent respectively. Prices of Sembcorp Salalah, Al Jazeera Services, Sharqiyah Desalination, Dhofar Generating, and Ooredoo were down by 6.49 per cent, 2.37 per cent, 1.96 per cent, 1.67 per cent, and 0.54 per cent respectively.
