Muscat: The National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) launched its Communication Strategy for the period (2026–2030).
This launch is part of the NCSI direction toward developing a more integrated and effective institutional communication system, contributing to raising the efficiency and uniformity of communication messages, and expanding reach and interaction with various community segments.
Dr. Khalifa Abdullah Al Barwani, CEO of the National Centre for Statistics and Information, said that the launch of the strategy reflects the Centre's commitment to developing a more effective and flexible institutional communication system that enhances the value of statistical data within the community and solidifies the Centre's position as a trusted national source of information.
He noted that the strategy focuses on enhancing consistency in messages, raising the efficiency of communication channels and tools, and activating a communication system based on partnership and integration with various entities, ensuring data is delivered simply and transparently, respecting the needs of beneficiaries, and supporting decision-makers, researchers, students, media, and the public.
He explained that the strategy is built upon clear strategic objectives, most notably: enhancing community awareness on the importance of statistical data and its role in development; increasing the level of benefit from the Centre's digital platforms and outputs in the educational and research process; developing the Centre's communication identity and highlighting its roles and achievements in the media; promoting a culture of transparency and reliability by presenting data in simplified and easy-to-understand ways; and expanding partnerships and building a sustainable, interactive relationship with the public based on listening and communication, as well as strengthening internal communication channels to establish a multi-directional communication culture within the institution.
He elaborated that the strategy includes a gradual implementation program featuring short, medium, and long-term initiatives aimed at content development, improving user experience, and expanding communication impact. This includes introductory campaigns about the Centre's website, products, and services; producing visual awareness content that promotes statistical literacy and raises awareness of data use; along with qualitative initiatives such as establishing a digital media studio to support professional media production, and programs aimed at entrenching statistical and data concepts among community groups. It also includes future projects for producing documentary materials and visual reports that contribute to presenting information in modern and more impactful ways.
He indicated that the monitoring and evaluation system within the strategy relies on performance indicators for each channel and initiative, utilising digital measurement and analysis tools to read and improve results, with the issuance of periodic reports and annual reviews that ensure responsiveness to changes and support data-driven communication decisions.
This enhances the approach of continuous improvement and focuses on measuring impact and the achievement of targeted objectives.
Dr. Khalifa Abdullah Al Barwani confirmed that the strategy gives special attention to impact sustainability and risk management, by documenting communication processes and building institutional knowledge, strengthening partnerships that support the Centre's mission, and preparing an emergency communication plan and an integrated framework for institutional reputation management. This ensures the Centre's readiness to deal with various situations and maintains public trust, reinforcing its status as a national entity concerned with data and information.
