Muscat: More than 30,000 vehicles have been recalled so far this year, according to data released by the Public Authority for Consumer Protection (PACP).
The month of January witnessed 11,788 recalls which has so far been the highest month. April had 11,736 vehicle recalls, and May saw just 4,957 vehicle recalls.
According to data from the PACP, March had the lowest recall count at 1,951.

Reasons for the recalls include defects and the technical repairs that were discovered later by the factory in the country of origin. Such situations require bringing these vehicles to the workshops of authorised agents in various countries around the world.
According to the report, the recalls came in accordance with the provisions of Article (27) of the Consumer Protection Law which states upon discovery of a defective product or service, the supplier shall be liable to harm the consumer or his funds by stopping the circulation of the goods or services and informing consumers of this defect and withdrawing the defective item from the market immediately.
