Muscat: The Embassy of India has invited everyone living in Oman to celebrate the International Yoga Day on June 21 by attending a mega yoga session it is organising at the Oman Convention & Exhibition Centre.
In a statement, the Embassy said: “Join the mega yoga session on 21 June 2019 at 7 pm at Oman Convention & Exhibition Centre. All participants will be given yoga mat and T-shirt.”
On December 11, 2014, the United Nations General Assembly had approved Resolution 69/131, declaring June 21 as the “International Day of Yoga”.
The international community has since been celebrating the day with great enthusiasm. India has taken the lead in celebrating the day worldwide to make people aware of the health and spiritual benefits of Yoga, an ancient Indian tradition.
Last year, the Embassy also celebrated the International Day of Yoga, with more than 5,000 Omani and Indian yoga enthusiasts, practitioners and beginners practising yoga under one roof.
