Muscat: A businessman who runs a chain of restaurants in the Sultanate has made the decision of hiring only Omani workers, to showcase his support to the Omanisation initiative and towards Omani jobseekers. Announcing his decision, the businessman also asked the Ministry of Labour to provide the required facilities for him to proceed with hiring Omanis.
D. Jalal AlHadrami, the businessman in question, said in a tweet, “I am honoured to announce the launch of an initiative to Omanise our restaurants. Our brand runs a chain of restaurants and we are looking to establish many more branches across the Sultanate. We need Omani entrepreneurs to take responsibility and manage each branch. The brand is 100 per cent Omani and I want us to reach 100 per cent Omanisation as well.”
He further said that the initiative would cover the costs incurred for establishment, supervision and follow-up for these branches while Omani entrepreneurs would shoulder the responsibilit of day-to-day management. “Our goal is to provide a livelihood for all those who have the desire and ambition to own their own business in a few years while helping us create jobs for our brothers and sisters,” he said.
The Ministry of Labour, recognised the effort of the businessman and said in a statement, “Mr. Jalal, we thank you for this nationwide initiative that contributes to Omanisation efforts while providing job opportunities for citizens. We assure you of all possible support for this initiative as well as any other aimed at increasing Omanisation percentages in businesses.”
