Muscat: More than 10 people have been injured in North Al Batinah Governorate due to damages caused by rains, the Director of Saham Hospital said on Wednesday.
A statement issued online by Oman News Agency ( ONA ), said:”Hammoud bin Saeed A Fazari, Director of Saham Hospital, said that these damages resulted in the injury of 13 people, 7 of whom were transferred to Sohar Hospital due to fractures, while the necessary treatment and medical care was provided to the rest of the injured in Saham Hospital.”
A number of wilayats and governorates of the Sultanate witnessed torrential rains, hail falling, rising sea waves on the coastal areas of the Sea of Oman, and active winds that led to the blowing of unstable objects and caused many damages to the private property of citizens.
Most areas and neighborhoods of the Wilayat of Seeb also witnessed medium and heavy rain, accompanied by strong winds.
It also caused damage to some residential buildings and facilities in the commercial area of A Khoudh Market, Al Ma’abilah Industrial Area, and the temporary fish market established by the Ministry of Agricultural, Fisheries and Water Resources.
The agencies of the General Directorate of Muscat Municipality in Seeb started their work from the first day of the rains and are still continuing in cleaning the roads.
The Wilayat of Saham in the North Al Batinah Governorate also witnessed damage to some private properties due to heavy rains and strong winds.
For his part, His Excellency Sheikh Saif bin Humyar Al Shehi, Governor of North Al Batinah, said that all the concerned authorities in the governorate are playing their role, “as many of the roads that were closed yesterday evening were opened and there are great efforts by the Royal Oman Police in addition to the efforts of North Al Batinah Municipality.”
Ahmed bin Ali Al Maimani, Director of Municipal Affairs in the Wilayat of Saham, explained that the work teams were distributed in various areas that witnessed damage to work to remove waste and water pools.
The Wilayats of Al Khaboura and Al Suwaiq witnessed heavy rain, accompanied by strong winds, which led to severe damage to many private properties. The Royal Oman Police and the Department of Municipal Affairs in the Wilayat of Al Khaboura began the process of opening roads and removing plankton, rain waste, valleys, falling rocks and water pools, in order to facilitate traffic.
The Municipal Affairs Department in the wilayat, with the participation of the concerned authorities, continues its field work and intensive efforts after the rains that fell on the wilayat. The municipality responded with its team and equipment and opened the roads that were affected by falling rocks.
