Muscat: 92 per cent of people in Oman who have been infected with COVID-19 have successfully recovered from the disease, according to data published by the Ministry of Health.
184,647 people have so far recovered from the disease, out of a total of 201,350 cases of infection. However, the number of COVID-19 related deaths stood at 2,120.
Figures released by the ministry also show that 2,006 fresh infections from the virus were recorded on Thursday (760), Friday (612), and Saturday (634). During these three days, 37 people also succumbed to the disease.
84 COVID patients were admitted to hospitals in the last 24 hours, as of Sunday, May 09, 2021. A total of 275 patients are in intensive care, and a further 752 are in health centres.
The Ministry of Health continues to reiterate to people to take appropriate measures to help stop the spread of COVID-19.
“Avoid group activities and gatherings, wear masks, and maintain a physical distance of at least two metres,” said the MoH in its advisory.
“Regularly and thoroughly wash hands with water and soap, or clean them with a certified hand sanitiser, avoid touching the face, nose, mouth, and eyes, and avoid going out from home unless necessary.
“Follow healthy habits when sneezing or coughing, and adhere completely to isolation if showing symptoms or have been in close contact with a positive case,” added the ministry.
“With our commitment to wearing masks, and maintaining social and physical distancing, we will prevent ourselves, our families, and our community, from the spread of the coronavirus.”
