Rumours behind lag in students’ vaccination drive

Muscat: While nearly 80 per cent of students under the vaccination group in some areas of the country have been vaccinated, it lags behind in other places, according to Badr bin Saif Al Rawahi, Director of Infectious Diseases Control at the Ministry of Health.

“In other governorates, it has only reached 20 per cent of our targeted population, because of rumours spread against vaccination,” he said. “The overall rate of vaccination coverage for students and teachers is about 48 percent.”
