Muscat: Astronomically, the Khareef season begins from Monday in the Governorate of Dhofar.
Muhammad Al Barami, Meteorology expert said: "The Khareef season will begin on June 21, the date of the summer solstice, according to astronomical calculations, but the effects of the season began with the intensification of monsoon clouds, and a number of areas in the Dhofar Governorate witnessed mist and drizzle."
According to the Oman meteorology, the weather today is partly cloudy on the coastal strip of the Governorate of Dhofar and the surrounding mountains, with the possibility of intermittent drizzle falling, and generally clear in the rest of the Sultanate's governorates with the rise of dust due to active winds on desert and open areas.
The highest temperatures recorded on Thursday June 17 in Oman was 49 degree Celsius in Dema wa Taeen, 49.3 degrees in Joba, 48.7 degrees in Al Mudhaibi, 48.6 degrees in Izki, and 48.3 degrees in the Wilayat of Nizwa.
