Muscat: At least two more Indian schools in Oman have drawn up plans to resume physical classes by the first week of October.

Indian School Darsait and Indian School Seeb, both plan on adopting blended learning for students of class XII from October 3, 2021 onwards.

At Indian School Darsait, students of classes XII and X will have on-campus lessons from 7 to 10:30 am, and switch to online classes from 11:30 am to 3:10 pm, starting from October 3.

The same schedule will be rolled out for students in grade IX and XI on October 17, and VII and VIII on November 1. Prior to students of these four standards switching to blended learning, their online classes will also run from 7 to 10:30 am.

“Please send your ward to school with mask, hand sanitiser, vaccination certificate, handkerchief, tissue, water bottle, tiffin and all required text books, note books and stationery as per the time-table,” said Indian School Darsait in a circular. “If your ward has fever, cough or cold, make them stay at home and encourage them to attend online classes until fully recovered.”

“When you come to drop your ward to school or at the pick-up point, please maintain social distancing and cooperate with the staff at the gate regarding the thermal screening process,” added the school. “Feedback about each child regarding his academic progress, physical and emotional development will be given by the teachers at regular intervals.”

Over at Indian School Seeb, physical classes for class XII will begin on Sunday, October 3, while the preliminary examination for class X students is set to begin a week later, on October 10.

As part of protocols adopted at Indian schools, students are required to maintain all COVID protocols, including not sharing of water, snacks, stationery and books. Canteens will also remain shut until further notice.

Students who wish to attend on-campus classes must also be at least partially vaccinated, and must have their vaccine certificate with them at all times. They must report to school in uniform. Furthermore, parents who wish to enter the school must also produce their vaccine certificate prior to entry.

The announcements of the Indian schools in Seeb and Darsait come in the wake of the largest Indian community school in Oman – Indian School Muscat – announcing a return to physical classes. ISM will also resume classes for grade XII students on October 3.

“Class XII students will have physical classes at school on Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, and online classes on Mondays and Wednesdays with effect from Sunday, October 3, 2021,” said the school in a circular. “The dates for the physical classes for classes IX, X, and XI will be informed in successive days.”

Starting from Sunday, September 26, 2021, all senior school students also need to follow a new timetable for online and physical classes. Indian schools, which were required to shut their campuses and move classes online because of the COVID-19 pandemic, have only recently developed plans to adopt blended learning.

As part of measures taken to combat COVID-19, all parents were required to upload onto school portals, copies of their students’ resident cards and vaccination certificates, earlier this month.
