MSX index ends marginally higher

Muscat: The MSX index closed at 3,981.39 points, up 0.30 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended up by 0.11 per cent at 564.43 points.

Construction Material was the top gainer, up by 6.25 per cent, while Al Anwar Ceramics, down 2.76 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Madina Takaful was the most active in terms of the number of shares traded as well as in terms of turnover.

A total number of 461 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR2.2 million, with more than 18 million shares changing hands. Out of 41 traded securities, 8 advanced, 10 declined and 23 remained unchanged. At the session close, foreign investors were net buyers for OMR299,000 while Local investors were net sellers for OMR241,000 followed by GCC & Arab investors for OMR58,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 6,278 points, up 0.27 per cent. Prices of Oman & Qatar Insurance, Sohar International Bank, Bank Nizwa, United Finance and Bank Muscat were up 4.06 per cent, 2.20 per cent, 2.13 per cent, 1.79 per cent and 0.42 per cent respectively.

Industrial Index closed at 6,192.69 points, down 0.19 per cent. Prices of Construction Material and Galfar Engineering were up 6.25 per cent and 2.56 per cent respectively. Al Anwar Ceramics and Oman Cement were down 2.76 per cent and 0.83 per cent respectively.

Services Index remained unchanged at 0.0 per cent before closing at 1,685.31 points.
