Muscat: As a result of cyclone Shaheen, water has returned to the Safa lakes in the Empty Quarter desert.

Shihapb Al Shandoudi, photographer from Al Dhahira governorate said: "Al Safa sand lakes in Al Dhahirah Governorate, about 120 km away, is formed by the water in the valleys which has moved to the desert."

One of the benefits of Cyclone Al Shaheen on the Sultanate of Oman is that it contributed to filling the lakes of the Safa Desert in the Wilayat of Ibri, west of the Sultanate.

According to the citizens, water was last present in these lakes during the rainy season in 2019. They completely dried up after April 2020.
