MSX index ends marginally lower

Muscat: The MSX index closed at 4,000.93 points, down 0.27 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended down by 0.43 per cent at 544.84 points.

Aman REIT Fund was the top gainer, up by 4.21 per cent, while Voltamp Energy, down 3.28 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Sohar International Bank was the most active in terms of the number of shares traded while Al Anwar Ceramics were the most active in terms of turnover.

A total number of 345 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR1.27 million, with more than 5.4 million shares changing hands. Out of 32 traded securities, 1 advanced, 13 declined and 18 remained unchanged.

At the session close, GCC and Arab investors were net sellers for OMR200,000 while local investors were net buyers for OMR124,000 followed by foreign investors for OMR75,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 6,346.42 points, down 0.13 per cent. There were no gainers. Al Omaniya Financial Services, Al Madina Takaful, and Ominvest were down 1.67 per cent, 1.03 per cent, and 0.64 per cent respectively.

Industrial Index closed at 6,112.93 points, down 0.56 per cent. There were no gainers. Voltamp Energy, National Aluminium, Al Maha Ceramics, Al Anwar Ceramics, and Galfar Engineering were down 3.28 per cent, 2.01 per cent, 1.96 per cent, 1.49 per cent and 1.30 per cent respectively.

Services Index down by 0.63 per cent before closing at 1,626.18 points. There were no gainers. OIFC, Al Suwadi Power, Renaissance Services, and Ooredoo were down 2.82 per cent, 1.92 per cent, 1.79 per cent, and 1.11 per cent respectively.
