Muscat: His Majesty Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik and the Emir of Qatar exchanged honours on Monday.
“His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik presented the Oman Civil Order of the First Class to his brother, His Highness Prince Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, in appreciation of His Highness and as an expression of the strength and ancient fraternal relations between the Qatari and Omani people,” Qatar News Agency said.
The Oman Civil Order of the First Class is considered one of the highest honours of Oman and is awarded to kings and heads of state whose countries have distinguished relations with the Sultanate of Oman and to dignitaries who enjoy the high esteem of His Majesty the Sultan.
His Highness Sheikh Tamim in turn presented his brother, His Majesty the Sultan, today, with the sword of the founder, Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed bin Thani, as an embodiment of the bonds of brotherhood that unite the two brotherly peoples of Qatar and Oman, and the feelings of affection and appreciation by His Highness personally for His Majesty the Sultan.
The founder's sword is considered the highest Qatari decoration that is presented to kings, princes and heads of state.
