Muscat: The Arbitration Committee of Bilarab Bin Haitham Award for Architectural Design is sorting and evaluating the inputs from participants for the first edition of the award in 2022. The term of submission of inputs by the participants ended on 5 February.
The total number of inputs submitted by Omani youths was 356. Several entries that did not meet the minimum standards have been excluded.
Currently, the committee is sorting out and technically evaluating the inputs. The front-runners in the current stage will qualify for the first review which begins on 27 February. Following the review, 10 participants would be invited to make detailed presentation before the committee and also a detailed discussion on all technical and engineering aspects of the designs.
The projects submitted for the first edition of the award includes various designs and layouts of architectural landmarks, models and buildings inspired by Omani culture, besides tourism and commercial buildings.
It may be mentioned that the projects for the award this year will serve as necessary input in development of Hay Al Mina area in the Wilayat of Muttrah by construction of a landmark that represents the 50-year Renaissance under the Sultanate.
