MSX index ends marginally higher

MSX index ends marginally higher

Muscat: The MSX index closed at 4,240.89 points, up by 0.74 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended up by 1.12 per cent at 485.57 points.

Raysut Cement, up by 8.99 per cent, was the top gainer while Voltamp Energy, down by 3.20 per cent, was the top loser. Madina Takaful was the most active in terms of the number of units traded and Bank Muscat was the most active in terms of turnover.

A total number of 1,132 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR4.87 million, with more than 27.6 million shares changing hands. Out of 53 traded securities, 25 advanced, 6 declined and 22 remained unchanged.

Financial Index closed at 6,741.67 points, up by 0.13 per cent. Prices of Muscat Finance, Taageer Finance, Global Financial Investments, Oman & Emirates Investment, and United Finance were up by 8.33 per cent, 7.96 per cent, 5.2 per cent, 2.35 per cent, and 2.04 per cent respectively. Prices of Oman United Insurance, HSBC Bank Oman, and Vision Insurance were down by 3.09 per cent, 2.63 per cent, and 0.92 per cent respectively.

Industrial Index closed at 6,173.54 points, up by 1.47 per cent over the previous close. Prices of Raysut Cement, Al Anwar Ceramics, Al Hassan Engineering, Al Maha Ceramics, and Jazeera Steel Products were up by 8.99 per cent, 5.02 per cent, 4.76 per cent, 4.17 per cent, and 1.02 per cent respectively. Prices of Voltamp Energy, and Galfar Engineering were down by 3.20 per cent, and 1.00 per cent respectively.

Services Index was up by 0.94 per cent before closing at 1,642.14 points. Prices of SMN Power Holding, Dhofar Generating, Oman National Engineering, National Gas, and Al Jazeera Services were up by 6.38 per cent, 4.92 per cent, 3.81 per cent, 3.62 per cent, and 3.55 per cent respectively. Prices of Barka Desalination were down by 0.68 per cent.
