Muscat: The Environment Authority in cooperation with the Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority (CDAA), has extinguished a fire that broke out in a copse of Al'alan trees in Al Dhahirah Governorate.

A statement issued online by Environment Authority said: "The environment departments in the governorates of Al Dhahirah and Al Dakhiliyah, in cooperation with the Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority, dealt with putting out the fire that re-ignited in one of the Al'alan trees in Jabal Al Sarat in the Wilayat of Ibri, which caused damage to two other Al'alan trees."

The authority calls on all visitors to these tourist sites not to start fires near these trees, because of the danger they pose to them, as they are highly flammable, aromatic trees, in addition to that they constitute a national wealth and are threatened with extinction and must be preserved.
