MSX index ends higher

MSX index ends higher

Muscat: The MSX index closed at 4,240.21 points, up by 0.93 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended up by 0.81 per cent at 458.13 points.

Ahlia Insurance, up 9.09 per cent, was the top gainer while Oman Arab Bank, down 9.3 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Galfar Engineering were the most active in terms of the number of shares traded while Oman Telecom were the most active in terms of turnover.

A total number of 692 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR4.39 million, with more than 16.34 million shares changing hands. Out of 43 traded securities, 17 advanced, 9 declined, and 17 remained unchanged. At the session close, GCC & Arab investors were net sellers for OMR881,000 while domestic investors were net buyers for OMR521,000, followed by foreign investors for OMR360,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 6,755.93 points, up 0.86 per cent. Prices of Ahlia Insurance, Takaful Oman, National Bank Oman, Muscat Finance and Ahli Bank were up by 9.09 per cent, 4.55 per cent, 3.57 per cent, 3.03 per cent and 2.42 per cent respectively. Prices of Oman Arab Bank, Oman Qatar Insurance and Oman & Emirates Investment were down by 9.3 per cent, 4.5 per cent and 1.19 per cent respectively.

Industrial Index closed at 5,700.07 points, up 0.22 per cent. Prices of Galfar Engineering, Al Anwar Ceramics and Oman Fisheries were up by 3.51 per cent, 1.44 per cent and 0.92 per cent respectively. Prices of Raysut Cement and Gulf Mushroom Products were down by 2.6 per cent and 1.74 per cent respectively.

Services Index was up by 0.36 per cent before closing at 1,612.65 points. Prices of Dhofar Generating, Ooredoo, Oman National Engineering, Barka Desalination and Al Maha Marketing were up by 8.48 per cent, 5.88 per cent, 1.91 per cent, 0.72 per cent, and 0.57 per cent respectively. Prices of OIFC, Phoenix Power, Sembcorp Salalah and Al Jazeera Services were down by 2.31 per cent, 2 per cent, 1.43 per cent and 1.37 per cent respectively.
