Muscat: The management of the Special Economic Zone at Duqm (SEZAD) is organising the Second Environmental Forum titled, “Together for reducing our carbon footprint in Duqm”, which is to be held on January 9.
A number of lecturers and specialists from government and private entities, concerned with climate change and carbon emissions reduction, will be participating, in the presence of the companies operating in the zone.
The forum aims at finding innovative mechanisms to solve potential environmental challenges resulting from various construction and industrial works in Sezad.
The forum will shed light on the necessity for combining efforts to raise awareness of preserving the environment, reducing environmental impacts and supporting and developing foundations of cooperation between various organisations and companies operating in the zone in aspects related to climate affairs. It will also highlight greenhouse gases inventory, setting up plans to reduce carbon emissions and adapt to climate changes, to achieve zero neutrality in Duqm.
The forum comes as a complement to the continuing efforts of Sezad management represented by the Environmental Awareness Team of the Environmental Sustainability Department, in its commitment to protect and preserve the environment and share with the world its emissions reduction plans, the success of the First Environmental Forum, which was held in July 2022, and the consequent empowerment of the companies operating in the zone to develop procedures and find possible environmental solutions.
