Muscat: The total value of property transactions in the Sultanate of Oman by the end of January 2023 rose by 20.4 per cent to reach OMR260.5 million, compared to OMR216.3 million during the corresponding period in 2022, according to the latest data issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).
The figures revealed that the total fees collected for all transactions by the end of January 2023 amounted to OMR5.8 million, comprising an increase of 2.6 per cent compared to the same period in 2022.
The traded value of sales contracts decreased by 11.7 per cent, to stand at OMR118.4 million by the end of January 2023, compared to OMR134.2 million at the end of January 2022. Sales contracts also saw a decline of 13.8 per cent, to stand at 5,746 contracts at the end of January 2023, compared to 6,664 contracts at the end of January 2022.
The statistics indicated a surge in the traded value of mortgage contracts at the end of January 2023 by 76.1 per cent, to reach OMR141.3 million, compared to OMR80.2 million at the end of January 2022.
Meanwhile, the number of mortgage contracts reached 1,698 at the end of January 2023, comprising an increase of 13.9 per cent over the same period of 2022 when it stood at 1,491 contracts.
The traded value of swap contracts declined by 56.3 per cent to reach OMR800,000 at the end of January 2023, compared to OMR1.9 million at the end of January 2022. The number of swap contracts went up by 3.1 per cent to reach 134 contracts, compared to 130 contracts by the end of January 2022.
According to NCSI statistics, as many as 21,627 title deeds were issued by the end of January 2023, constituting a rise of 4.9 per cent.
Meanwhile, the number of title deeds issued for the GCC citizens surged by 113.5 per cent to reach 111 title deeds compared to 52 by the end of January 2022.
