Muscat: The Omani passport advances five places in the index of the most powerful passport in the world for the year 2023.
The Sultanate of Oman advanced five places in the index of the most powerful passport in the world for the year 2023, which was recently issued by the tax and immigration consulting company “Nomad Capitalist”.
This year, the Sultanate of Oman ranked 99th in the world, compared to 104th last year.
Jovana Vujinovic, Director of Operations and Sales at Nomad Capitalist, said that the classification of global passports depends on a number of factors, including the number of countries a passport holder can enter without a prior visa, the income tax rate, and the extent of the country's influence at the international level.
She indicated that the need to adopt several criteria to classify the strongest passports, and not just a single criterion, which is entry without visas.
She pointed out that, for example, American and Canadian passports are similar in terms of strength and the number of countries entering countries without visas, but there is a difference in terms of being subject to greater taxes, and therefore a distinction must be made between the two countries.
The passports of the countries in this index were ranked in terms of the benefits enjoyed by the holder, including visa-free travel, global reputation, international taxation and civil liberties.
