Muscat: Indian School Muscat (ISM) and Muscat Cricket Coaching Centre (MCCC) Yellow were crowned champions of the 2022-23 Oman Cricket U16 and U13 leagues respectively recently.
In the U16 final, ISM defeated Sri Lankan School Muscat (SLSM) by 37 runs while in the U13 title clash, MCCC Yellow routed Bosher Sports Centre (BSC) ‘E’ by nine wickets.
ISM managed to put up a challenging score of 153 in 28 overs, courtesy a solid 71 by Devansh Loya, who later put up a fine bowling display.
Devansh’s knock came off just 49 balls and included nine boundaries. Omindu PM picked 5/16 along while Mohammed Rushdaan and Senuka VN claimed two wickets too. SLSM batters faltered in their chase as wickets fell at regular intervals. Omindu (38, 27balls, 6x4) top-scored for the team as they were bundled out for 116 in 25.2 overs.
Devansh bagged three wickets for 20 runs, and was later adjudged the player of the match.
In the U13 finals, BSC ‘E’ scored 105/8 in 20 overs. Aditya Chaudhari (26, 3x4) and Vihaan Apte (27, 4x4) were the main run-getters. Arav Pillai, Karnik Mehta and Pranav NS took two wickets each.
Kriv Patel led the chase with a quickfire 64 of 33 balls (9x4) and was given good support by Siddeshwaran S (29, 4x4) as MCCC Yellow chased down the target in 10.1 overs. Kriv Patel was named the player of the match.
Later, the prize distribution ceremony was held in the presence of Kiran Asher, OC board member, and Duleep Mendis, OC’s chief development officer.
