MSX index ends lower

Muscat: The MSX index closed at 4,871.82 points, down by 0.32 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended down by 1.09 per cent at 480.56 points.

Oman Fisheries, up 5.88 per cent, was the top gainer while Shell Oman Marketing, down 9.78 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Phoenix Power were the most active in terms of the number of shares traded while Oman Telecom were the most active in terms of turnover.

A total number of 1345 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR2.05 million, with more than 7.03 million shares changing hands. Out of 37 traded securities, 13 advanced, 11 declined, and 13 remained unchanged. At the session close, foreign investors were net buyers for OMR292,000 while domestic investors were net sellers for OMR221,000, followed by GCC & Arab investors for OMR71,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 7,813.30 points, down 0.36 per cent. Prices of United Finance and Bank Muscat were up by 1.61 per cent and 1.05 per cent respectively. Prices of National Bank Oman, Global Financial Investments, Oman & Emirates Investment and Bank Nizwa were up by 3.64 per cent, 3.57 per cent, 2.35 per cent and 1.00 per cent respectively.

Industrial Index closed at 6,172.79 points, up 0.12 per cent. Prices of Oman Fisheries, Al Maha Ceramics and Voltamp Energy were up by 5.88 per cent, 1.46 per cent and 0.90 per cent respectively. Prices of A'Saffa Foods were up by 4.76 per cent respectively.

Services Index was down by 0.89 per cent before closing at 1,695.62 points. Prices of Phoenix Power, SMN Power Holding, Dhofar Generating, OIFC and Oman National Engineering were up by 3.51 per cent, 2.02 per cent, 1.79 per cent, 1.65 per cent and 0.84 per cent respectively. Prices of Al Batinah Power, Al Suwadi Power, National Gas and Ooredoo were up by 8.57 per cent, 6.06 per cent, 2.89 per cent and 0.95 per cent respectively.
