Oman advances in Global Connectivity Index; ranked among top Arab countries
The index uses more than four million data points.

Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman is among the best Arab countries in global connectivity, according to the 2022 Global Connectivity Index.

The Sultanate also advanced one position in the index, ranking 69th globally in the 2022 index, compared to 70th in the 2021 index. The Global Connectivity Index was recently issued by DHL, in cooperation with the Stern School of Business at New York University in the United States (US).

The Sultanate was ranked with the UAE, Qatar, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Kuwait as the best Arab country in global interdependence.

The Netherlands topped the index, which includes 171 countries, followed by Singapore, Belgium and Switzerland. Guinea-Bissau came at the end of the ranking, followed by Burundi, Malawi and Yemen.

The index uses more than four million data points to track the globalisation of 171 countries, as well as to measure the extent of global interdependence for each country. This is measured according to the amount of international flow relative to the size of its domestic economy, and the extent to which the international flow is distributed globally, as well as its specific focus.

DHL International noted that regional supply chain strategies working within a global framework improve resilience to global events.
