Muscat: The main committee for sighting the crescent of Ramadan for this year, 1444, will meet today evening, Wednesday, March 22, in the general office of the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs (MERA).
The Ministry has called on citizens and residents to investigate the sighting of the crescent of the holy month. It indicated that the moon will ascend about 49 minutes after sunset in parts of the Sultanate's sky.
The astronomical calculations made by the Department of Astronomical Affairs at MERA regarding the sighting of the crescent of Ramadan on Wednesday, dated 29 Shaaban 1444 AH, corresponding to March 22, 2023, show that the sun will set on Wednesday at 6:19 PM, and the moon will ascend on Wednesday at 7:07 PM. This means that the moon will ascend about 49 minutes after sunset.
