Muscat: The Royal Oman Police (ROP), calls on everyone to abide by traffic rules and regulations, and protect children from the dangers of playing with firecrackers and fireworks or when hiking or swimming during the Eid Al-Fitr period.
A statement issued online by ROP said: ”In order for this joy to be complete with the family meeting in an atmosphere of happiness, motorists must be reminded to abide by the traffic rules and regulations, adhere to the speed limit, not overtake when prohibited, drive vehicles recklessly, or drift and cause disturbance to public comfort.”
The statement also said: ”In order to preserve the safety of our children, it is important to protect them from the dangers of playing with firecrackers and fireworks during the Eid period, in addition to the important role of parents in minding their children while they cross the road or go out for a walk or swim.”
Furthermore, the ROP pointed out that the commitment of citizens and residents to public safety requirements reflects their level of awareness and contribution to protecting lives and property, and spreads the umbrella of security and safety throughout the country, which confirms the existing partnership between the police and the community.
The Royal Oman Police congratulated all on the occasion of Eid Al Fitr, by saying: ”The police congratulates all citizens and residents and affirms its keenness to take measures aimed at achieving safety for all and facilitating traffic movement throughout the Sultanate of Oman.”
Earlier, Oman News Agency, (ONA), announced that it had decided that the blessed Eid al-Fitr holiday for the year 1444 AH for the public and private sectors would be from Thursday, April 20, until Monday, April 24, provided that official working hours will resume on Tuesday, April 25.
