Oman advances eight places in press freedom

The Sultanate of Oman has advanced eight places in the World Press Freedom Index 2023, according to the Reporters Without Borders index. The list was published on the occasion of World Press Freedom Day.

The Sultanate of Oman ranked 155th globally in this year's index, compared to 163rd in the 2022 Press Freedom Index.

5 arrested for stealing in Oman

Royal Oman Police said: “South Al Sharqiyah Governorate Police Command arrested four citizens in flagrante delicto while trying to steal electric cables from a building under construction. An Asian expatriate who participated with them in disposing of the stolen goods was arrested earlier, and legal procedures are being completed against them.”
