
Muscat: A collision between a vehicle and a motorcycle in Al Dhahirah Governorate resulted in the death of an expatriate and the critical injury of another.
An official from the Royal Oman Police (ROP), confirmed to Times of Oman that a vehicle collided with a motorcycle in the Wilayat of Ibri in Al Dhahirah Governorate, which resulted in the death of a motorcyclist of Asian nationality and the critical injury of another who was accompanying him.”
The official added that the injured person was immediately transferred to Ibri Hospital for treatment.
The ROP called on drivers of vehicles and bicycles to adhere to traffic safety rules and requirements to avoid accidents as a result of rushing and exceeding the speed limit on the roads.
According to the Traffic Law, anyone who drives on the road recklessly, in a manner that exposes the lives or properties of people to danger, or overtakes in a dangerous or forbidden place, or from the shoulder without justification, will be punished according to the cases and conditions specified by the implementing regulations as follows:
“Imprisonment for a period of no less than 10 days and not exceeding two months, and a fine of no less than OMR 100 and not exceeding OMR 500, or one of these two punishments,”
