Muscat: The Oman Across Ages Museum celebrated the International Museum Day on the 18th of May 18. The 2023 version of the day was titled "Museums, Sustainability and Well-being" and focused on the cultural and historical heritage of humanity.
The ceremony, which was sponsored by His Excellency Engineer Ibrahim bin Saeed Al Kharousi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism for Heritage, included a panel discussion entitled "Omani museums, sustainable investment to achieve human well-being". Seeking to achieve its leading role in the cultural, social and educational aspects.
The Omani National Commission for Education, Culture and Science also participated in the celebration of the International Museum Day, which was organized by Oman Across Ages Museum.
Dr. Hamid Al-Nawfali participated in the opening session on the global dimension of museums. Dr. Huda Al-Dairiah presented a working paper entitled "The Pivotal Role of Museums in Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals", before the committee members toured the museum's premises and facilities.
It is worth noting that International Museum Day has been approved by the International Council of Museums of UNESCO since 1977. It was announced by Oman Across Ages Museum that the people can enter the museum free of charge on this special occasion.
