Muscat: The Omani documentary film "Al Zij" recently won three awards at the Diamond Cut Festival in India, for "Best Cinematography, Best Actor, and Best Show."
The film was produced by the Omani Film Society, and reviews the relationship of an Omani with the profession of cultivation and manufacturing of Omani red sugar.
In addition, the film deals with the human, economic and social aspects of this profession, and documents some important aspects by those concerned in the competent authorities.
It was filmed in several Wilayats in the Sultanate of Oman, including Nizwa, Bahla, Al Hamra and Manah. The film won several awards at various Arab and international festivals, and was selected to participate in a number of international and local festivals and events.
