Social Protection Law: Citizens receive first payment of cash assistance

Muscat: On Thursday, Januray 18, 2024, the first payment for those entitled to social protection benefits was deposited in the beneficiaries’ accounts, which includes the benefit for the elderly and children and family income support.

In an announcement, "We would like to inform beneficiaries entitled to social protection benefits that: Beneficiaries registered before January 10 will receive the benefit starting from January 18, and beneficiaries registered later during the same month will receive the benefit starting at the end of the month."

It is to be noted that based on Article (3) of the Executive Regulations of the Social Protection Law, the disbursement shall be retroactive for a maximum period of 3 months, provided that the conditions for entitlement to the benefit are met.
