People urged to donate platelets in Oman

Muscat: The Department of Blood Banks Services (DBBS) has made an urgent appeal to people with O (+ve) blood type to donate platelets at the Central Blood Bank in Boushar during these days.

DBBS said in a statement :"We urge blood donors with blood type O+ to donate platelets at the Central Blood Bank in Boushar during these days, as there are several patients need platelet transfusions every day for longer than 10 days."

The Ramadan blood donation hours at the Central Blood Bank in Baushar are from Sunday to Thursday, from 8 am to 12:30 pm in morning period and and in the evening period from 7:30 pm to 11:30 pm daily . The last moment for platelet donations is 10:30 pm,"DBBS added .
