Beat the last few weeks of Muscat’s summer heat with these refreshing juice cocktails.
White Wonder
A magical concoction of coconut and orange juice make this drink a tropical classic, evoking memories of cool ocean breezes and swaying palms with every sip.
Ingredients
• 4 tablespoon fresh orange juice
• 1 tablespoon lime juice
• 1 tablespoon sugar
• 1 cup coconut cream
• 1 glass coconut water
Preparation
• Blend together orange juice, lime juice, and sugar. Add coconut cream and coconut water and blend again.
• Serve chilled.
Optional: Top with sparkling water or soda for a bubbly twist.
Beetroot Mojito
The brilliant combination of beetroot and mint make this colourful drink a picture of wellness and good health.
Ingredients
•1 raw beetroot, peeled
•Squeeze of lime juice
• 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
•1/2 teaspoon sugar
• Pinch of salt
•Mint leaves
•Ice
•Carbonated water/soda
Preparation
•Chop the beetroot and place in a pan.
• Cover with water and gently simmer for 10 minutes.
•Cool and drain the beet water. Place in the fridge till needed.
•Take a glass and rub the rim with lime juice. • Dip the lime rimmed glass into a little sea salt to give a fabulous salty edge to
your drink.
•Add 1/2 tsp sugar, a few mint leaves, a squeeze of lime and a pinch of salt to the glass. Muddle everything in the bottom of the glass and add a generous helping of ice. •Pour in some beetroot water and a splash of fizzy carbonated/soda water, garnish with a mint leaf.
Rose-Watermelon Cooler
This rejuvenating summer cooler gets a local twist with the addition of rose.
Ingredients
•1 cup watermelon juice
• 1 cup water
• 2 to 3 teaspoon rose syrup (depending on sweetness)
• 1/4 cup watermelon chopped
• Crushed ice to serve
Preparation
• Mix watermelon juice, water, and rose syrup. Add chopped watermelon and crushed ice and serve.
Golden Sun Mocktail
This refreshing mocktail, made with a combination of fresh orange juice and mint, is a fantastic drink on hot summer mornings.
Ingredients
• 1 cup fresh orange juice
• 1 tablespoon fresh lemon or lime juice
• Ice cubes
• 1 cup Sprite, 7 Up, club soda, or ginger ale
• Sugar as required (optional)
• Few leaves of mint
Preparation
•Mix the orange juice with lime or lemon juice in a mixing bowl.
•Place a few ice cubes in two glasses and fill the glasses half-way with the juice mixture.
•Top with carbonated beverage like Sprite or soda water. Add sugar for added sweetness ( optional).
• Crush some mint leaves by hand and add to the juice. Add more ice cubes, if needed, and serve.
