Ominvest Concludes the 2nd edition of the Football Championship

Muscat: In line with its commitment to fostering community engagement and encouraging Omani young talents to improve their skills through sports, Oman International Development and Investment Company “Ominvest” successfully organized the second edition of the Ominvest Football Championship. This initiative reflects Ominvest’s dedication to promoting teamwork and collaboration among the Group employees and its subsidiaries, furthering the spirit of unity and camaraderie within the organization.

The Ominvest Football Championship is designed to foster a culture of active participation and cooperation among employees across the Group's companies, aligning with Ominvest's steadfast commitment to harmonizing its institutional objectives with those of sustainable development goals. This annual sports tournament reflects the company's recognition of the significance of sports which is one of the main pillars of Oman Vision 2040, emphasizing the importance of promoting health, teamwork, and community engagement.

The tournament featured ten teams, divided into two groups. The first group features sports teams from Thawani Pay, Alizz Islamic Bank, National Finance (A), Liva Insurance, and NSSG. The second group includes Ominvest, Takaful Oman, Oman Arab Bank, Liva Insurance (A), and National Finance (B). Kicking off on March 17, the championship saw the top two teams from each group advance to the semi-finals. With anticipation running high, the semi-final matches showcased thrilling competition as the four teams competed for a spot in the final showdown.

Graced by Mr. Abdulaziz Al Balushi, Group CEO, and attended by a number of executives and employees from the Group, the curtains drew to a close on Monday, April 1st, marking the conclusion of the Ominvest Football Championship amidst a large audience exceeding 350 fans at Al Amal Club. Ominvest orchestrated the inaugural edition of the football championship, drawing participation from various entities, which has gained audience eyeballs. As a testament to the tournament's success, the winning team- Ministry of Endowment & Religious Affairs- from the previous edition is engaged in an exhibition match against the National Football Team Stars, adding thrilling vibes to the closing ceremony of this year's championship.

The Ominvest Football Championship brought an exhilarating showdown as the Oman Arab Bank team faced off against Liva Insurance (A) in a fiercely contested final match. After a thrilling encounter in the stadium, The Oman Arab Bank team won the match with a score of 3/2 on a penalty shootout after normal time ended in a draw of 2/2. As a result, Oman Arab Bank was crowned champion of the tournament, while Liva Insurance (A) team finished as runners-up. The final match was filled with excitement as teams competed for victory, drawing enthusiastic crowds who passionately supported their favorites. The Ominvest Football Championship matches are known for their suspense and thrill, and this year was no exception.
