Muscat: Most governorates of the Sultanate of Oman are likely to witness rainfall of varying intensity on Monday, April 15, 2024.
Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), said in weather alert No. 3 :"Due to the expected heavy thunderstorms accompanied with strong downdraft winds and hail over Governorate of Musandam ( 50-150) mm and expected rainfall amounts ranging from (30-120) mm over Al Buraimi , Al Dhahira , North Al Batinah and Al Dakhiliyah Governorates and continuous varied intensity rain over Governorates of Muscat , South Al Batinah , South Al Sharqiya and North Al Sharqiya and the northern parts of Al Wusta Governorate causing flash floods . "
There are chances of isolated rain over Dhofar governorate.
The Civil Aviation Authority advises all to take precautions during thundershower rain , and not to cross Wadis ( Flashfloods ) and avoid low laying areas and not to sail during alert period .
The expected impacts of the weather condition :
1-Heavy thundershowers with hail are expected ranging ( 30 -150 mm ) causing flashfloods .
2- Strong downdraft active winds with speed ranging 15 - 45 knots ( 28 - 83 km / h).
3-Sea state may rise along Musandam governorate and Oman Sea coasts (2-3 meters).
4-Reduced horizontal visibility during thundershowers.
