Muscat: Due to the weather condition, classes in evening schools in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate will be temporarily suspended and shifted to distance education on Tuesday, April 24,2024.
"With reference to Report No. (1) issued by the Oman Meteorology and to the Ministry’s statement regarding the expected weather conditions during the period April 23-25, 2024 , and in order to ensure the safety of our students and the educational staff, it was decided that school work on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, will be as follows:
1- Morning schools operate in person until 12 pm.
2- Classes in evening schools is suspended and switched to distance education system.
3- School administrations located near valley streams and reefs in the governorate must exercise caution and take the necessary safety measures for students and educational staff, " Directorate General of Education in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate said.
According to the Directorate General of Education in North Al Batinah Governorate work in schools of the governorate will be as follows :
1- School administrations must follow up on the latest developments in the weather situation, and work on the situation to ensure the safety of students and school workers in accordance with the nature of the tributaries in coordination with the school’s administrative supervisor.
2- If the rain coincides with the presence of students in school, they will not be taken out until the weather stabilizes and the traffic flow of vehicles is ensured, reaching the tributaries.
3 - Emphasising school bus drivers to take into account the safety of students and not to take risks to ensure their arrival to school and their places of residence.
4- Schools can take advantage of available resources to switch to distance learning if students are unable to attend school.
The Ministry of Education said on Monday, April 22,2024 that due to the expectation of rainfall during the period from April 23 - 25 in the North Al Sharqiyah Governorate, it has been decided to suspend classes in all schools in the North Al Sharqiyah Governorate (governmental, private and foreign) and to transfer studies in them remotely on Tuesday, April 24,2024 . for the rest of the northern governorates, the general directors of these governorates are given the authority to evaluate the weather situation and take the appropriate decision to ensure the safety of our students and the educational staff.
Oman Meteorology said in a report No.1 about the weather condition in the Sultanate of Oman that forecasts and analyzes of the National Early Warning Center indicates that the atmosphere of the Sultanate of Oman will be affected by an air depression starting on Tuesday, April 23, until Thursday, April 25, 2024. It is expected that clouds will flow and form, with chances of scattered rain of varying intensity, sometimes thunderous, accompanied by active downward winds and hail, leading to the flow of reefs and valleys over the Governorates of Al Buraimi, North Al Batinah, South Al Batinah, Al Dhahirah, Muscat, Al Dakhiliyah , North Al Sharqiyah, South Al Sharqiyah, and Musandam.
