Embassy Of Italy, Muscat, Bait Al Zubair Launch “Welcome Azzurri: An Italian Football Journey” Photo Exhibition

Hosted by Bait Al Zubair, the Embassy of Italy in Muscat launched today “Welcome Azzurri: An Italian Football Journey” Photo Exhibition at Bait Al Nahda, with the presence of the Guest of Honor, H.E. Basil bin Ahmed Al Rawas, Undersecretary for Sports and Youth at the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, and the Italian Legend Beppe Dossena, who represented the Italy National Football Team, and was a member of the Azzurri that won the 1982 FIFA World Cup in Spain.

The exhibition that was attended by a selection of football players, coaches and football fans from the Omani and Italian community, included 34 photos of the best matches of the Italian National Football Team and Beach Soccer Team with teams from the region from 1928 until date. The exhibition will continue until May 15, 2024 at Bait Al Nahda.

On this occasion, H.E. Pierluigi D’Elia, Ambassador of Italy accredited to the Sultanate of Oman said: “This exhibition is born from the passion of football of both Italy and Oman, as the sport itself has always reflected the core of our nations, summed in unity and discipline,” His Excellency continued, “Italy and Oman share a solid bond in various sectors, and this exhibition comes as a testimony on the importance of sports in bringing people closer and sharing unique moments in history, with the special presence of the Italian Legend Beppe Dossena who will enrich us and a number of Omani coaches with his winning and progressing strategy.”

Following the photo exhibition, Italian Legend Beppe Dossena will also participate in the workshop with a group of Omani professional football coaches on “Strategy and Winning” organized by the Embassy with the support of Oman Football Association (OFA), in addition to an exclusive visit to one of the best training academies for young footballers in Muscat.
