Oman’s natural gas production and imports increase by 5.5%

Muscat: The total local production and imports of natural gas amounted to 32.60 billion cubic metres until the end of July 2024. This is an increase of 5.5 percent compared to the same period last year, which amounted to 30.91 billion cubic metres.

Statistics issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information showed that industrial projects accounted for 63.6 percent of natural gas uses in the Sultanate of Oman until the end of July 2024, which amounted to 20.74 billion cubic metres.

The total use of natural gas was for diverse sector and included oil fields at 6.34 billion cubic metres, power generation stations at 5.36 billion cubic metres, and industrial areas at 146.30 million cubic metres.

Statistics further showed that non-associated production of natural gas, including imports, amounted to 26.33 billion cubic metres, while associated production amounted to 6.57 billion cubic metres.
