Muscat: Omani cyclist Shabib Al Balushi won Salalah Mountain Bike Race, which was held as part of the events accompanying the Salalah Tour in its fourth edition this year. The event was organised by Dhofar Municipality in cooperation with the Oman Cycling Federation and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth.
The race ended in the general category with Omani cyclist Shabib Al Balushi winning first place, Omani cyclist Shahab Al Qamshoui coming in second, and Omani cyclist Hilal Al Shahumi coming in third.
In the youth category under 23 years, Omani cyclist Mundhir Al Hasani won first place, Omani cyclist Yahya Al Qasimi came in second, and Kuwaiti cyclist Mohammed Hassan came in third.
In the women's category, Mary Grace from the Philippines came first, British Emma Fonton came in second, and Omani Amira Al Obaidani came in third.
In the 40+ category, the British Tim Fontaine came in first place, Omani Labib Al Lawati came in second place, while the Omani cyclist Mansour Al Mahrouqi came in third place.
The race witnessed wide participation of cyclists from the Sultanate of Oman and abroad in the general category, and under 23 years, in addition to the participation of a number of women in the 40+ category for a distance of 18 kilometers, which consists of 3 laps, each lap is 6 kilometres.
At the end of the race, Khalifa bin Khamis Al Jabri, Vice President of the Oman Cycling Federation, crowned the winners of the first place and the supporting and contributing parties to the success of the race.
