Muscat: The Muscat Governorate has announced the launch of the "Muscat Inspires Us" short film competition, inviting Omani filmmakers—both amateur and professional—to showcase their creativity and storytelling skills. The initiative aims to highlight the governorate's achievements through a series of short films that focus on key themes such as tourism, community engagement, development, history, culture, sustainable learning, and architectural identity.
The competition is open to a wide range of participants including directors, producers, students, film companies, photographers, and artists. It seeks to develop visual content that reflects the spirit of Muscat while promoting its progress and achievements in various sectors.
One of the initiative's primary goals is to foster partnerships with the community, motivating participants to bring innovative ideas to the forefront. The competition also aims to establish sustainable practices in film production, encouraging ongoing creative exploration in the local film industry.
Films submitted to the competition will be evaluated by a jury of industry experts, including members from the Oman Film Society and the Ministry of Information. Winning entries will receive cash prizes, with the top prize being RO 2,500. Other prizes range from RO 1,500 for second place to RO 200 for seventh place.
Participants are required to submit original works under five minutes in length. The films must be in Arabic with English subtitles and adhere to local values and customs. Each participant or team is limited to one entry.
Muscat Governorate hopes the initiative will become an interactive platform that inspires creativity, showcasing the governorate’s cultural heritage, societal values, and developmental progress.
