Governorate ambassador initiative winds up with 520 listings

Muscat: Represented by the National Programme for Government Digital Transition (Tahawul), the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology today announced the end of registration to the initiative codenamed “Governorate Ambassador for Digital Transition”.

The programme seeks to promote community awareness about smart digital services and solutions in the Sultanate of Oman and their role in transition to digital lifestyles.

More than 520 Omani and non-Omani volunteers registered to the initiative, said Eng. Abdulaziz Abdulrahman Al Kharousi, Director General of Digital Transition and Sectoral Empowerment at the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology.

Al Kharousi pointed out that the ambassadors to be selected from among the registrants will undergo a comprehensive training programme to prepare them for their respective roles in serving their communities.

The final list will include 66 ambassadors to represent different governorates of Oman. The ambassadors will be put in three groups. The starter group will be dedicated to the “Initiator” level, which comprises people with basic experience and basic understanding of digital transition.

The second group, “Advanced” level, includes participants with moderate experience in digital transition and an advanced understanding of digital technologies like data analysis, artificial intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, electronic applications development and cloud computing.

Level 3, the “Specialist” group, will comprise participants who possess deep knowledge and extensive experience in digital transition. It includes participants who hold academic and professional qualifications in the field.

Depending on their status, the ambassadors will assume different roles: Spreading awareness about digital services, encouraging the use of smart applications and inducting target segments into programmes of electronic payment systems and other advanced technologies.
