Indian School Bousher Shines as Host of ISQUIZ 2024 – Where Brains Battle

Indian School Bousher, under the aegis of the Board of Directors of Indian Schools in Oman, successfully hosted the Fifth Edition of ISQUIZ 2024, an inter-school mega quiz competition on November 16, 2024. The event brought together bright minds from Indian and international schools across the Sultanate of Oman for an intellectually engaging and highly competitive quiz battle.

The grand event was graced by the esteemed presence of Mrs. Mahfoudha Mubarak Al Araimi, the distinguished Director General for Labour, Muscat Governorate, as the Chief Guest. Dr. Sivakumar Manickam, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Indian Schools in Oman, presided over the occasion. Enhancing the event’s significance, from the Board of Directors, Indian Schools in Oman, Mr. Syed Salman, Vice-Chairman and Mr. Vijay Saravanan Sankaran, Director, honoured the occasion with their presence.

The event witnessed the presence of distinguished dignitaries, including Mr. M.P. Vinoba, Senior Principal and Education Advisor to the Board of Directors of Indian Schools in Oman, along with the esteemed members of the School Management Committee, Indian School Bousher —Dr. Sayed Fazlur Rahman, Dr. Vinod Pachigalla, Mr. Shanmugam Purushothaman, Mr. Samkumar, Ms Remya Damodharan, and Mr. Rushit Sanghvi. Principals from various Indian Schools also attended, lending their encouragement and support to the enthusiastic participants of ISQUIZ 2024.

The Principal of Indian School Bousher, Mr. Prabhakaran P, Vice Principal Ms Ambika Padmanabhan and staff were joined by a vibrant gathering of parents, teachers, students, and well-wishers. Together, they created a spirited and supportive atmosphere, celebrating the zeal and talent of the participants.

National Anthems of Oman and India marked the commencement of the mammoth event followed by the lighting of the lamp, thus ferrying its divine and positive energy across the gathering. The unveiling of the 'Genius Genie' mascot for ISQUIZ 2024 was a captivating and imaginative moment that was brought to life through a small skit, adding an element of surprise and excitement to the event.

In his welcome address, Mr. Prabhakaran P, Principal of Indian School Bousher, extended a warm welcome to the esteemed guests, dignitaries, parents and students setting the stage for an exciting finale.

Dr. Sivakumar Manickam, presiding over the function, addressed the gathering, underscoring the importance of intellectual activities such as ISQUIZ in fostering critical thinking, collaboration, and a passion for learning. He encouraged students to persist in their pursuit of knowledge with curiosity and determination, emphasizing the crucial role of education in shaping their future.

Prizes were presented to the winners of the Daily Brain Boost Quiz, held from 1st November to 10th November, and the school-wise winners of the Foundation and Preparatory Category Quizzes, along with their school coordinators, by the Chief Guest, Mrs. Mahfoudha Mubarak Al Araimi, alongside the Chairman, Vice-Chairman and other esteemed members from the Board of Directors, Indian Schools in Oman.

The quiz was hosted by the charismatic Quizmaster Mr. Vinay Mudaliar, whose engaging and dynamic style of quizzing kept the audience on the edge of their seats.

The finalists for the Middle and Secondary Categories were selected from the participants who competed in the online preliminary rounds – Prelims 1 and Prelims 2 – followed by Mega Prelims. The quiz kicked off with 8 teams from the Middle Category, and the rounds spanned a wide array of subjects. In the Middle School Category, the winners were Master Mithil Sadhasivam and Miss Mariah Liz Abraham from Indian School Al Ghubra, while the First Runner-up position was claimed by Master Adrikcen Jayakanthan and Miss Rida Shaikh from Indian School Bousher, and the Second Runner-up was awarded to Master Eshan Samir and Master Aadi Sri Keshav from Indian School Al Wadi Al Kabir.

The students of Indian School Bousher presented the theme song of ISQUIZ 2024 to inspire and energise participants, creating an atmosphere of excitement. The song emphasised themes of curiosity, teamwork, and the pursuit of excellence—key values that ISQUIZ promotes.

The quiz continued with 8 teams from the Secondary Category. In the Secondary Category, the winners were Miss Zaina Fathima and Master Aditya Verma from Indian School Salalah, while Master Shyam Nair and Master Miit Sangtani from Indian School Al Wadi Al Kabir secured the First runner-up and Master Atharv Rahul Dehedkar and Master Sabyasachi Choudhury from Indian School Al Ghubra secured the Second runner-up.

The prize distribution ceremony at ISQUIZ 2024 was a moment of celebration and recognition, as the winners and runners-up of the Middle and Secondary Categories were honoured for their outstanding performance. The atmosphere was filled with applause, as the audience celebrated the remarkable success of both teams. The smiles and pride on the faces of all the awardees reflected the spirit of ISQUIZ 2024, highlighting not only the joy of winning but also the importance of knowledge and intellectual growth.

In a heartfelt Vote of Thanks, Dr. Syed Fazlur Rahman, Convenor of the School Management Committee, Indian School Bousher expressed gratitude to the Chief Guest, dignitaries, organizers, sponsors, and participants for their contributions to making ISQUIZ 2024 a memorable success.
