HM the Sultan visits Sultan Faisal School in Wilayat of Al Amerat

Al Amerat: His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik visited the "Sultan Faisal bin Turki School for Boys" in the Wilayat of Al Amerat, Governorate of Muscat on Monday.

During the visit, His Majesty the Sultan took note of the progress in the educational field, including modern programmes that have been implemented to enrich the students’ cognitive and perceptual potential.

Upon his arrival at the school, His Majesty the Sultan was received by Dr. Madiha Ahmed Al Shaibani, Minister of Education, and some of the Ministry's officials.

Then, the school’s scouts teams chanted slogans in praise and welcome for His Majesty the Sultan, and one of the students delivered a welcoming poem.

After that, His Majesty the Sultan listened to a brief overview presented by of the students about the school. Then, His Majesty toured the school's sections and facilities. He also attended some teaching classes in the school, as well as at learning centres and the laboratory.

His Majesty the Sultan toured an exhibition held on the sidelines of the gracious Royal visit. The exhibition showcased models of programmes and activities implemented by the school's students in the fields of financial culture, entrepreneurship, vocational and technical education as well as the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in the educational process.

Later, His Majesty the Sultan attended a workshop at the fine arts hall. He also attended a music skills class, as well as a sports session.

After that, His Majesty the Sultan met with educators and students from different schools of Muscat Governorate. He listened to their initiatives, accomplishments and opinions in the field of education.

His Majesty the Sultan stressed his keenness to provide the schools built over the past 3 or 4 years with the latest facilities. He pointed out that education nowadays is not as traditional as it used to be, but rather there is a real activity characterised by competition and innovation that emanate from the student’s knowledge of modern technologies.

His Majesty the Sultan affirmed that what he saw during the visit stems from the Royal keenness, which envisages “exemplary schools in the future”. In this context, he observed that "the youth and students we saw and heard from are promising. Oman needs every individual to be part of the nation-building process.”

His Majesty the Sultan underscored the crucial role of teachers in imparting knowledge to the students in a proper form of education.

“What we see today in our schools is what we were talking about 10 years ago, with old schools to be restored to accommodate all these capabilities which capitalise on modern technologies in education,” said His Majesty.

His Majesty wished success for those working in the education sector, advising them to consider the students as their own offspring. His Majesty added that everything we wish to achieve for our own children must be imparted to our students in the classrooms.

At the end of the visit, His Majesty the Sultan signed the Visitors Book.

"May the Almighty Allah grant His Majesty the Sultan success in upgrading the education sector and all other development sectors, and May He assist him in elevating these sectors into broader spheres of progress and prosperity!"
