Oman Sports Medicine Committee Organizes a Physiotherapy Course

Muscat: Wednesday evening, marked the conclusion of the physiotherapy course organized by Oman Olympic Committee (OOC), represented by Oman Sports Medicine Committee. The course, held at Oman Olympic Academy over three days, was attended by physiotherapists from sports federations and committees, as well as healthcare professionals from hospitals. The sessions were supervised by Dr. Nasreen Hamada, a physiotherapy specialist from the Arab Republic of Egypt.

The course aimed to enhance knowledge and practical skills in sports injury management, first aid, diagnosis, and treatment. The first day included an introduction to the course, its objectives, and a comprehensive overview of sports injuries and associated first aid measures. Practical training on the diagnosis and treatment of sports injuries was also conducted.

The second day focused on various topics, including injuries to the shoulder, knee, and ankle joints. Each type of injury was discussed in detail, followed by hands-on training on diagnostic and treatment methods. The program will conclude this evening with intensive practical training on diagnosing and treating sports injuries, followed by a closing ceremony featuring certificate distribution and participant recognition.

This course is part of the efforts of Oman Sports Medicine Committee to support and develop national competencies in physiotherapy, aiming to enhance the efficiency of professionals in this vital field and improve athletic performance. The event witnessed notable participation and interaction from attendees, who engaged actively in both theoretical lectures and practical sessions.

Dr. Nasreen Hamada emphasized the importance of this course in building participants’ capabilities, highlighting that intensive practical training provides opportunities to learn about the latest therapeutic techniques for managing sports injuries. She also underscored the role of physiotherapy in improving athletes’ performance and preventing future injuries.

It is worth noting that the physiotherapy course is part of a series of initiatives by Oman Sports Medicine Committee aimed at raising the standards of performance in the field of sports medicine. Through such programs, the committee aspires to create a comprehensive sports environment that enhances athletes’ readiness and supports their physical and health needs.
