HM the Sultan issues two Royal decrees

Muscat: His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik today issued two Royal decrees reading as follows:

Royal decree No. 21/2025 defines the specializations of the Foreign Ministry.

Article (1) states that the Foreign Ministry shall be the reference body for all matters related to foreign relations and international cooperation, and that the Ministry’s specializations shall be defined as per the annex attached to this decree.

Article (2) cancels all that contradicts this decree or contravenes its provisions.

Article (3) says that this Royal decree shall be published in the Official Gazette and enforced from its date of issue.

Royal Decree No. 22/2025 promulgates the Diplomatic and Consular Corps Law.

Article (1) stipulates that the provisions of the Diplomatic and Consular Corps Law attached to this decree shall be enforced.

Article (2) states that members of the diplomatic and consular corps shall retain their existing grades, financial allocations and current job positions.

Article (3) states that the Foreign Minister shall issue the Executive Regulation for the law attached to this decree, as well as the regulation and decisions necessary for the execution of the law attached to this decree, after the approval of the authorities concerned. Till such time, the existing regulations and decisions shall stay in effect, without prejudice to the provisions of the law attached to this decree.

Article (4) cancels the Law Regulating the Foreign Ministry, promulgated under Royal Decree No. 32/2008. It also cancels all that contradicts the law attached to this decree or contravenes its provisions.

Article (5) says that this decree shall be published in the Official Gazette and enforced on the day following its date of publishing.
