Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman will participate on Tuesday in the World Urbanism Festival "MIPIM 2025", which will be held in the French city of Cannes and last for four days.
This year, MIPIM focuses on the theme of “Shaping Sustainable Cities” and attracts around 20,000 participants from 90 countries, including investors, real estate developers, urban planners, and architects, making it a strategic platform for exchanging expertise and establishing global partnerships.
The Sultanate of Oman’s pavilion includes a number of major development projects, including the Sultan Haitham City project, the Al Khuwair Downtown project, the Salalah Future City project, the Oman Mountain Front project, and the Thuraya City project, reflecting the Sultanate of Oman’s vision of developing integrated and sustainable urban environments.
Jamal Nasser Al Hadi, Official spokesman for the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning, said: “Through this participation, the Sultanate of Oman seeks to highlight its competitive investment environment, launch major urban projects that provide qualitative opportunities for international investors, and enhance its position as a regional hub in real estate development, by adopting the latest technologies in building smart and sustainable cities, which contributes to enhancing the readiness of the real estate market and attracting foreign capital.”
He added that the Sultanate of Oman aims, through its participation in this global event, to expand its network of strategic partnerships with government and private entities, and consolidate its position in the real estate market as an investment destination at the regional and international levels, in order to achieve the goals of the "Oman 2040" vision.
Through this participation, the Sultanate of Oman aims to enhance its global competitiveness by promoting the real estate investment climate, highlighting the unique opportunities it offers to international investors, and attracting quality investments by presenting major development projects that support the growth of the real estate sector, with a focus on adopting the latest technologies in building smart and sustainable cities.
The participation includes holding several discussion sessions, including a session presented by Dr. Khalfan bin Said Al Shuaili.
The theme of the session is “The Impact of Long-Term Demographic Changes on Creating Liveable and Sustainable Cities: Differences between Europe and Other Countries,”.
Nine panel discussions will also be held at the Oman Pavilion, highlighting key topics related to future projects and investment strategies in the real estate and urban development sector.
On the other hand, the Sultan Haitham City project qualified for the final stage of the “MIPIM 2025” Awards, where it was selected among the top four global projects. This award is among the most important in the real estate sector, as it honors innovative projects in urban development and sustainability.
Projects will be evaluated based on criteria including innovation, design, environmental impact and their contribution to improving quality of life. The awards ceremony will be held next Thursday in the presence of a group of investors and real estate developers from around the world.
