ROP arrests tourist for defrauding citizen

Muscat: The Royal Oman Police (ROP) has arrested an Egyptian tourist for committing fraud. The individual was apprehended by the Directorate General of Inquiries and Criminal Investigations after defrauding a citizen by offering to exchange US dollars for Omani rials at an unrealistic 50% discount. 

A statement issued online by ROP said :"The Directorate General of Inquiries and Criminal Investigations has arrested an Egyptian tourist for committing fraud against a citizen by enticing him to exchange dollars for Omani rials at a 50% discounted rate."

Legal procedures are currently being finalised.
