Moscow: His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik expressed his gratitude to President Vladimir Putin of the Russian Federation for the gracious invitation to visit his country and for the warm welcome and hospitality during their meeting.
His Majesty stated that his discussions with the Russian President focused on building solid relations between the two countries in recent times. The two nations are now marking 40 years of diplomatic relations and are working to elevate these ties into a distinguished and mutually beneficial partnership that serves the interests of their friendly peoples, His Majesty said.
His Majesty the Sultan commended his meeting with a group of business leaders from the Russian Federation, noting their keen interest in advancing this relationship in energy, agriculture, and trade. His Majesty pointed out that many have already begun exchanging visits and establishing commercial offices. His Majesty expressed Oman’s aspiration to augment its volume of investments in Russia, with Oman Investment Authority already engaging with relevant Russian entities.
At the end of his speech, His Majesty the Sultan extended his thanks and appreciation to the Russian officials who visited Oman recently and expressed his hope that Omani officials would continue their visits to Moscow.
On his turn, President Vladimir Putin of the Russian Federation welcomed His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik to the Russian capital, Moscow, thanking His Majesty for his state visit to Russia.
President Putin noted that His Majesty the Sultan had made several visits to Russia. He added that in 1985, His Majesty signed the agreement establishing diplomatic relations between the two friendly nations. This year, both countries celebrate the 40th anniversary of these relations, the Russian President said.
He added that the two nations share a robust historical relationship and a record of sustained engagement, emphasizing the finalization of several agreements that will further strengthen the legal foundation of bilateral relations.
President Putin highlighted the significant potential for expanding trade relations, particularly in mutual investments, transit, transportation, and agriculture, especially as Russia exports agricultural and food products to Oman.
He underlined the interest of Russian companies in boosting energy cooperation with Oman and mentioned the practical matters discussed during today’s talks.
President Vladimir Putin also underscored the close coordination between the foreign ministries of both countries and noted that Russia is gearing up to host the first Russian-Arab Summit, which, he said, enjoys broad support from friends in the Arab world.
