Forum focuses on occupational safety and health in North Al Batinah

Sohar: The Social Protection Fund, in cooperation with Sohar University, on Wednesday organised the Occupational Safety and Health Forum under the title “Artificial Intelligence and Digitalization: Our Path to a Safer Work Environment."

Ahmed Khalfan Al Zaabi, Director of the Social Protection Fund in North Al Batinah Governorate, stated that the forum aims to raise awareness about the importance of occupational safety and health, promote a safety culture in the workplace, and explore ways to utilize artificial intelligence (AI) and digitalisation to improve work environments and enhance safety.

For his part, Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Al Muqbali, Assistant Vice Chancellor for Administrative and Financial Affairs at Sohar University, emphasized that building a safe and sustainable work and educational environment is part of the university’s academic and social mission. He highlighted the importance of digital transformation as an effective tool for improving performance efficiency, fostering a safety culture, and keeping pace with modern advancements in AI and Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies—shifting from reactive to preventive measures and from response to risk prediction.

The forum featured several presentations, including discussions on the benefits of addressing workplace injuries and occupational diseases, accident reporting procedures, and successful case studies from private sector institutions in implementing occupational safety and health standards.

Additionally, a panel session was held to explore ways to enhance work environments and preventive measures to avoid injuries through the application of AI technologies.
