Tashkent: Oman's national football team snatched a valuable victory over Kyrgyzstan, with a score of 2-1, in the second round of the 2025 Central Asian Football Association (CAFA) Nations Cup, hosted by Uzbekistan.
With this victory, the national team raised its score to 4 points, topping Group A, pending the outcome of the Uzbekistan-Turkmenistan match.
The match started at a fast pace, with Kyrgyzstan threatening early in the first minute. However, goalkeeper Ibrahim Al-Mukhaini excelled in clearing the ball away. Oman team responded with a dangerous attempt through a shot by Abdullah Fawaz in the 11th minute, after a pass from Nasser Al-Rawahi.
Kyrgyzstan opened the scoring in the 24th minute through striker Kozubaev, following a cross from the right, and the first half ended with Kyrgyzstan leading 1-0.
At the start of the second half, the national team coach made several substitutions, bringing on Mohsen Al-Ghassani, Salah Al-Yahyaei, Ahmed Al-Khamisi, and goalkeeper Fayez Al-Rashidi.
This gave the team more momentum, and Ahed Al-Mishkhi came close to equalising in the 74th minute with a powerful shot that went close to the goal.
In the final moments of the match, the national team turned the tables, with Issam Al-Sobhi scoring the equaliser with a header in the 90th minute, before the same player scored the winning goal in stoppage time after a perfect pass from Mohsen Al-Ghassani.
Oman's team will face Turkmenistan in its third match next Friday, September 5th, while the final and third-place matches will be held on September 8th.
